Jim Broshears, Fire Chief (Paradise Fire Department)
|
 |
On October 7, 1997, the Paradise Town Council elected to enter into a contract with FIREHIRE® Inc. to conduct recruitment and hiring of Entry Level Firefighters for the Paradise Fire Department. FIREHIRE began its testing process in January of 1998 and completed the process in March of 1998, providing our Fire Department with a list of qualified candidates. On July 23, 1998, we hired the first firefighter from our newly-established list. The caliber of the firefighter, as well as the rest of the list of candidates provided by FIREHIRE appears to be top-notch.
The results of this contract with FIREHIRE has been:
- Reduced staff time required for the hiring process
- An excellent list of candidates
- Reduced liability, since the physical processes of the selection process were handled off of the Town of Paradise property.
I recommend the use of FIREHIRE, especially for small to mid-sized Fire Department where staff is limited. If you have any questions concerning the use of FIREHIRE for Entry Level Firefighter testing, feel free to contact me at (530) 872-6266.

| Bill Bagnell, Fire Chief (Crest Forest Fire Protection District) |
 |
The Crest Forest Fire Protection District has just completed a hiring process for Firefighter/paramedics using the services of Firehire Inc., a process the District had historically performed in house using District personnel.
I found Firehire to be very accommodating to the District's needs as well as desires. The professional manner of Mr. Cozad and his staff, the time-tested process used by Firehire, and the recruitment efforts made in our behalf truly made the difficult task of inducing quality firefighter/medics into our agency not only fiscally responsible but uncomplicated.
I highly recommend the use of Firehire Inc. and would not hesitate to commission their services in the future.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your outstanding services during our recent firefighter recruitment process. As you know, Redwood City Fire Department, Woodside Fire Protection District and South County Fire Authority were all very cautious about contracting with an "outside service". In the past, all three agencies have worked closely together and placed a high priority to test and hire the very best candidates possible.
Despite our concerns, I must say that everyone at Firehire was professional in every way during the entire process. In summary, you proved to be well worth the time we invested in our research and planning. We are very happy to have our newest recruits enrolled in the current San Mateo County Fire Academy. So far they look to be outstanding prospects.
Please feel free to have any prospective fire departments contact me for information pertaining to your services.
Thank you once again for your excellent service. It was a pleasure working with everyone on your staff.

To Whom It May Concern:
In December 1998, Woodside Fire District, along with two neighboring fire agencies entered into a joint recruitment process for firefighter and firefighter/paramedic. This recruitment was for entry and lateral positions. The three agencies involved have been doing joint recruitment and testing for many years, in the past using our personnel and resources to conduct the process.
For this test we decided to contract with FIREHIRE to conduct the recruitment and testing in an effort to reduce costs to our organizations. We were on a strict time line to complete the testing due to an immediate need for paramedic/firefighters. FIREHIRE assured us they could provide what we needed on time, and they did. The entire recruitment and testing process was completed in less than eight weeks.
The FIREHIRE testing process provided an eligibility pool of highly qualified candidates for our agencies to select from. In April 1999, 12 recruits were hired by the three agencies and several more are due to be hired within the year the eligibility pool is in effect. Numerous candidates reported that the testing was challenging, fair, and job related, some of those are people who failed the process.
The final results of the testing process with FIREHIRE have proven to be outstanding. The costs to our fire agencies were minimal, which in past tests have proven quite costly. The high overtime costs were eliminated, and the impact on the organizations was barely a factor compared to past testing experiences.
Throughout the entire process, FIREHIRE representatives responded to all of our requests and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Their attention to detail provided a high level of comfort to us as a client.
Although I cannot speak for our neighboring agencies that also participated in this process, I feel confident that they are very pleased with their experience with FIREHIRE. I have no reservations about recommending FIREHIRE to any fire agency in the process of establishing a hiring pool or list. Please feel free to contact me at (650) 851-1594 if you have any questions regarding FIREHIRE services.

Dear Curt,
I would like to thank you for the excellent job that FIREHIRE did with the fire fighter recruitment and testing process that occurred earlier this year. We have hired several candidates off the list and are very pleased with the high caliber of candidates that your testing process presented
You and your staff were always very professional and were easy to work with. Every aspect of the testing process went as planned and feedback from the candidates was very good.
You and your staff make the testing process almost painless. I look forward to working with you in the future. Keep up the good work.
Respectfully,
James F. Skinner, Battalion Chief

Dear Mr. Cozad
Thank you very much for all the services you have provided in the pursuit of my Fire Service career. I am thankful for the opportunities I was offered through your company and I enjoyed participating in all your events. Your standard for customer service with regards to the Firefighter hiring process is the best I have ever seen. Your company far exceeds the standards of testing consortium and I appreciate every ounce of it. As I am sure you are aware, I have recently been offered a position with the Woodside Fire Protection District and I would like to thank you for playing a vital role it, making my dream a reality. I am very grateful for your company and the invaluable service you have provided.
I have told all my fellow test takers the story of how I was hired and my success with Firehire Inc. over all other testing agencies. I will continue to tell this story for the rest of my career and credit Firehire for opening the door to my success. Mr. Cozad, thank you again.
Sincerely,
Jason R. Lo

I would like the time to express my heartfelt appreciation for your company's hard work. You gave me an opportunity to take a fair test and to be competitive in a tough arena. I felt that having the resources to study from (i.e. IFSTA Essentials and Emergency Care and Transport) helped immensely. Anyone taking this test is given an even playing field with the rewards going to the candidate who studied hardest.
I was hired with Paradise Fire Department over two years ago and have truly found a home and rewarding career! I am currently an Engineer for the department, with specialties in Haz-Mat and Fire Investigations. Again, I want to say thanks for all you have done for my family and I.

It is refreshing to see someone has decided to take on CPS. I have never been treated so poorly, or with the "you should thank us for doing you a favor" attitude than I did during their testing process that last two years.

| June 1, 2000
Dear Curt,
I am sorry for taking so long to write you this letter, however, as I told you on the phone long ago, I wanted to express my thanks to you and your entire staff. I have had the pleasure, or displeasure, of taking a few fire tests in the Bay Area, and felt compelled to share my thoughts with you on your competition.
My initial instinct is that I should not use their names, but, what the heck, I have a job. I have taken the Donnoe and Associates test, the CPS test, and of course, the FIREHIRE test. I have to tell you honestly, of all of these tests, where I have paid for a service in the hopes of getting the job, you and your FIREHIRE professionals are the only ones who treated me, the client/customer, like a client.
Your so called competition was very clear who they worked for in the way they treated prospects. On the other hand, you sir, were the only person who treated me as a customer. You answered questions, returned calls, and mostly made me feel that you were working for me in my quest for a job. For that I thank you. May continued success follow you and your company.
A final thought for those on the fence, unsure if they should pay another person for a fire test, just do it. FIREHIRE has the fruit on the tree of success, and will truly work for you to help get that job.
Thanks, again
Firefighter/Paramedic

Mr. Cozad,
Hi. I am writing to inform you of a change in my status. I have been on your list for about 2 or so years. I want to thank you for everything you have done for me. I look back on my testing process. It was hard work but well worth it. Everyone from FIREHIRE was/is GREAT!! I am happy to write you and let you know I have been hired with South San Francisco Fire Department. My hire date was Sept. 21, 2001. I am not sure if this is what you need or if you need anything else to take me off of the list. I have been extremely busy the last few months before I actually got hired. The academy is a lot of work but lots of fun. I guess when they say it rains, it pours!! Thank you again for everything!! :)

Curt,
Just wanted to drop you a note and thank you for the advise and guidance that you gave me on the date of my EMS evaluation. I was in Metro's background investigation and upon completing your process, I withdrew from Metro and start tomorrow with Menlo Park. I am extremely impressed with your company and I am recommending your exam process to many people (don't hold it against them that they're from Truckee and Donner Summit). My search for the perfect job is over... pending academy and probation... and your organization is a huge part of my success. Thanks again!

Mr. Cozad,
I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding job the FIREHIRE staff did during the recent testing process. As you are aware, I had to travel on three seperate occasions from Kansas City to the Bay Area to test. Your willingness to work and assist me in scheduling testing events proves your outstanding customer service and dedication in assisting a candidate achieve his goal of becoming a Firefighter/Paramedic in the State of California.
I have already received information from various agencies inviting me to interview. Again I want to say thank you for all the opportunities that FIREHIRE has provided.

| March 23, 2007
Curt,
I dont know if anyone ever thanks you for the services provided when they are placed on the registry list after completing the testing process. I started my academy today with my dream job. San Rafael Fire. It may not be the biggest city, produces fire daily, or pay the most. It is however the department rich in my family history, having my grandfather retire out as a BC, and cousin as a firefighter. I would not have been able to be picked up if it was not through firehire. So I just wanted to extend my thanks to you and the services provided.
Thank you,
Christopher B Boutilier
